Brian Eno Calls On Backing to Propel Together for Palestine Song to UK Christmas No 1.
A charity drive is aiming to propel a Palestinian lullaby to the top of the UK charts. The campaign aims to deliver assistance to Gaza's residents while also highlighting Palestinian culture and creativity.
An Opportunity for Unity and an "Unlikely Coup"
Musician and artist Brian Eno, who performs on the track, stated that the song titled Lullaby represents a opportunity to support Palestinians over the Christmas period. He noted the potential for an unexpected chart success.
“It would be incredible if that happened, yes,” he stated. “I wouldn't be completely disappointed if it fails to, holiday tracks are a category of their own.”
Resilient Spirit of Freedom and Dignity
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who performs on the version of a folk song called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the song's powerful central theme.
“It occupies a very special place for countless listeners,” Barghouti shared. “It’s basically saying that I would choose to perish with honor than exist without freedom. This is the primary message of the song; we seek to lead a life of dignity that we deserve as Palestinians.”
Recording Origins and Star-Studded Lineup
The track was produced in the wake of a major charity concert held in September. Initially planned to be performed and recorded live, the piece was omitted from the lengthy event due to the event running long.
The notable list of performers featured on Lullaby features a group of acclaimed names from the industry. All participated in the benefit event, which managed to collect a significant sum for humanitarian aid.
Final Touches and Availability
Lullaby was crafted by a group of talented individuals. The single showcases a fusion of the traditional Arabic lyrics with contemporary English verses.
The group managing the initiative have stated that their aim is to raise as much as possible for a specific fund. These proceeds will be distributed to initiatives supporting Palestinians through an established charity.
“We don’t have a specific target,” a figure said. “We’ll go for whatever we can get. Naturally, the higher the total, the greater the impact. It all goes out to Gaza.”
The reality in the region was described as its widespread damage, with a overwhelming percentage of infrastructure described as destroyed or damaged.
“In that context, a couple of million doesn’t make a massive dent. But I think the significant factor is above all spreading knowledge of this plight and proving that another narrative exists.”
The song is launching on Friday. Additionally, a video of the benefit event will be made ready to watch on a popular streaming site from the 19th of December.
