Ex- Physician Faces Assault Allegations Involving Thirty-Eight Individuals in His Care
Legal authorities have announced that a ex- doctor stands accused of carrying out sexual assaults against 38 individuals who were under his care.
The Grave Charges
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of numerous acts of sexual assault – some of which involve acts against children younger than 13 – between 2017 and 2021.
One senior CPS official commented, “Legal teams have worked at length to support a detailed and complex police inquiry, meticulously examining the evidence to determine that there is a strong case to bring the case to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
Scope of the Police Inquiry
These allegations follow what police called a “complex investigation” into reported sexual offences at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.
The defendant will appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January.
List of Charges
Prosecutors said the 45 sexual offences he is charged with:
- 15 counts of assault.
- 17 counts of assault by penetration.
- 9 counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
- Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- One count of attempted penetrative assault.
Police have asked individuals with information to get in touch with the relevant police force.
