NFL 2025 season: Week six
Real-time updates features live text for Sunday's games via various channels, beginning with the Broncos-Jets clash at Tottenham (from 14:00 BST). Also, audio coverage can be heard through select stations for a separate game (from 21:00 BST).
We're in the sixth week of the NFL season , following recent discussion about two top teams being possible championship contenders, they both surrendered their perfect starts.
Notable during those contests were the number of infractions both conceded. Philadelphia committed them at crucial times so they essentially beat themselves having led by two touchdowns going into the fourth period versus the Denver Broncos, set to play in London this weekend.
But it was good to see that Denver quarterback Bo Nix was able to have that deficit before direct three successful possessions on three possessions during the final period, securing the game 21-17.
The Broncos have the defensive player of the year in cornerback Pat Surtain II. They rank number one in goal-line defense, whereas Philadelphia lead the league in red zone offence, and the Broncos won that battle.
They had the Eagles' number in terms of simulated pressure. They did not always rushing extra pass rushers instead they could plug two LBs in the interior then drop them out and dispatch a slot defender from the outside.
At the start in the campaign, we said during a show how the Broncos might emerge as this season's dark horses. They ended the previous year well then excelled of building upon that.
Could Denver be this year's underdog story?
New TE their tight end has stepped up big while new running back their rusher is a player the team trusts. He's currently fifth league-wide for rushing yards (over 400) as well as tied for fourth for rushing touchdowns (4).
I love that head coach the Broncos' leader has "RUSH!" prominently of his playcall sheet.
That shows how the Broncos represent a squad that wants to run first, because you can do a lot based on that approach. It reduces opposing rushes and maintains in positive down and distances.
It's also benefited QB the young passer, who came into the league as a first-round selection in the prior draft, throwing 29 TDs – second only to Justin Herbert for the rookie record (31 back in 2020).
Josh Allen and Herbert have powerful arms to pass anywhere, but they don't move the mobility that Nix has. He has incredible passing ability, a unique trait, plus he's so athletic.
His assets are his mobility, being able to throw while moving, as well as using different arm angles to make throws as he moves out of the pocket, the bootlegs. He is able to deliver that layered pass across the middle and past defenders.
As a rookie QB, at 25, he displays a lot of poise in the pocket and is not bothered by extra rushers. He tries to evade a sack whenever possible and is able throw under pressure. He possesses a high football IQ and is very decisive.
When you constantly rush it eats up time and forces the opponent to stay on the field extended periods, and if you've got an athletic quarterback the defense must defend the field vertically and horizontally. This proves draining.
Nix has pushed back with the coach during games at times and it seems the coach appreciates that fire, seeing him as such a competitor. I think it's exciting for him to coach a young quarterback who's kind of like play-dough. He can really build something up how he desires to shape him. I think it's a special experience for the coach.
The head coach has won a Super Bowl and has surpassed Bill Parcells in all-time victories (173, tying for 14th). He's seen it all. In my opinion the achievements Denver are experiencing offensively is mostly due to his guidance, his schemes, his situational awareness – and the combination with the QB aids make him what he is.
You wouldn't want a better guy guiding you, to assist you through some of the tougher situations and boost confidence.
I have faith in the Broncos' defense, in Bo Nix's tenacity and composure. Yet is the team good enough to go against a top squad at full strength? Because that was not championship-level play from Philadelphia in their last game.
Currently, it's unlikely the Broncos are incredible. They're performing better than most, which is a good place to hold their division. The key is is maintain this trajectory.
They're really good at embracing their forte, that is running the ball, and that's precisely what they must do against the New York Jets in London. It's going to be the JK Dobbins show, essentially.
New York have allowed 140 rushing yards per game (sixth worst), five ground scores so far (in the bottom ten), and they're the sole squad yet to win any game.
Since the NFL began tracking turnovers decades ago, this team are the inaugural squad to be without any turnovers in five outings, which is kind of shocking when you think that the head coach was previously a defensive coach with another team.
The Chiefs' QB stated the Chiefs are off to a poor start following a recent loss to Jacksonville.
After the upcoming matchup, the Broncos face a manageable slate up to their bye (in week twelve) - the Giants, the Cowboys, Houston Texans plus the Raiders prior to the Chiefs.
Looking at their division, Kansas City are 2-3 and the Broncos are tied with the Chargers on 3-2 so they could challenge at leading the West.
It depends on what version Kansas City shows up they face since the Broncos {beat|def
