Netflix Casts Ideal Actor for Mr. 2 in the Hit Series Third Season

Baroque Works is geared up to exert significant influence in the forthcoming season on Netflix of One Piece, though the true confrontation isn’t set to occur until season 3, and a adored, popular member has just been cast.

Netflix announced Tuesday that the talented performer has joined the One Piece upcoming season’s lineup and will portray Bon Clay. Bon Clay can use their power to change into an identical duplicate of any person they’ve made contact with with their right hand. Escola, who is identifies as non-binary and goes by they/them, will portray a version of that character re-envisioned as non-binary identifying, rather than as a drag artist, in the live-action series, differing from the initial comic and animated series.

This performer will work alongside several other fresh additions who will portray Baroque Works to reality, such as head Mr. 0, played by the well-known actor, Sophia Anne Caruso as a key member, and Sendhil Ramamurthy, who will appear as the lineup as the ruler of the fictional land.

Though Bon Clay is a important part of the organization, the persona won’t make their debut One Piece the third season. With the next season expected to adapt the Little Garden segment, this signals a major departure in the timing of the character’s debut, one that could suggest further changes to the story’s structure.

The actor’s combination of sharp comedic timing and profound feeling makes them a ideal selection for the part. Along with their latest vocal work in the animated feature Boys Go to Jupiter, they garnered significant recognition and multiple awards for penning and acting in the successful stage production Oh Mary!, showcasing the range they’ll bring to one of One Piece’s widely praised figures.

Netflix's live-action One Piece show is scheduled to come back for its next installment on March 10th, 2026.
